This crisis led Vijay Kumar to take the initiative called CoconutIndia.com.



CoconutIndia.com is an online portal that connects coconut farmers and buyers directly. It allows the suppliers to bypass the traders and keep the full percentage of profits due to direct sales. With the emergence of CoconutIndia.com in the coconut industry, now coconut products can exported anytime and anywhere throughout India. Moreover, it creates awareness of daily market rates for coconuts and coconut products amongst the sellers and buyers. Since its establishment in 2012, CoconutIndia.com is with-holding this connectivity platform that has benefitted more than thousands of farmers. Currently, CoconutIndia.com has a vast network of more than 2300 farmers, 300 suppliers and 600 buyers.

In spite of being an IT professional, Vijay Kumar always stayed connected to his agricultural roots. He started CoconutIndia.com with a mission to avoid the middlemen and to avail the farmers the availing better prices for their products. Vijay’s innovative and unique ideas have led common men towards having a successful business. Through this platform, he conducts buyer-supplier meets for coconut products all over Tamil Nadu. Today, CoconutIndia.com is not only an online site for coconut business, but a learning site for the farmers which clarifies their doubts with the help of teaching faculties from Agricultural Institutes.

After completing his job related duties, Vijay dedicates his time to train the farmers regarding the manufacturing of 10 value added variants of coconut products. In 2016, he also released a book in Tamil based on his training sessions. Also, there are DVD versions of the same available in the market.

The next step in the journey of CoconutIndia.com will be setting up a provision for farmers to sell their produce directly through the website and through their amazon account. Recently, it has also introduced a page to display the supplier stock.
